SUPERSHINE Wins Herning Municipality’s 2025 Building Award

Each year, Herning Municipality celebrates exceptional buildings that have been newly constructed, restored, or rebuilt within the past three years.

The Orangery at Holtbjerg, a welcoming community house open to both residents and local stakeholders, captured this year’s award for its innovative reuse of materials and strong social purpose.

Built entirely from recycled and upcycled materials, the Orangery stands as a model of how creativity, sustainability, and community collaboration can coexist.

The project was realised through the efforts of students from Herningsholm Vocational School & Gymnasium, with support from the Local and Construction Fund, Nordea-fonden, and the EU-funded project SUPERSHINE. Moreover, students from VIA University College Holstebro contributed to the project by preparing the building application submitted to Herning Municipality.

Congratulations go to Department 24 from SUPERSHINE’s FællesBo  for their dedication, and to the department board for their valuable contributions to the project.
