SUPER-i Project

Highlights from SUPERSHINE’s Participation at Sustainable Places 2025

Last week, the SUPERSHINE project took part in Sustainable Places 2025, held in Milan, where Dr. Paola Zerilli represented the consortium in two key sessions dedicated to sustainable renovation and replication strategies.

In the morning session, “Impact Pathways for Sustainable Building Renovation in Europe,” Dr. Zerilli presented SUPERSHINE’s progress and objectives, highlighting the lighthouse pilots, the project’s work on energy consumption reduction, and its resilience-oriented approach to social housing renovation. The session gathered several Horizon Europe projects — CLR, MULTICARE, AEGIR, IAQS, and REHOUSE — to explore how innovative solutions can accelerate Europe’s renovation wave.

The session concluded with an interactive panel discussion, where participants reflected on questions such as:

  • Should indoor air quality be considered an integral part of the EU’s renovation ambitions?

  • How should indoor air quality be addressed in future renovation plans or legislation?

In the afternoon, during the workshop “Scaling Up Building Renovation through Replication,” led by SUPERSHINE’s partner ICONS, Dr. Zerilli joined representatives from DEDALUS, InEEXs, RENplusHOMES, and SIRCULAR to discuss systemic approaches to replication. The conversation focused on overarching patterns across projects, common myths that undermine replication, and the introduction of a framework for replication readiness. The session concluded with shared outcomes and takeaways, aimed at supporting the large-scale deployment of sustainable renovation practices across Europe.
