Building Change: Boosting Innovation for Affordable and Sustainable Housing in Europe

On 30 October 2025, the SUPERSHINE project will be represented by Dr.Paola Zerilli at “Building Change: Boosting Innovation for Affordable and Sustainable Housing in Europe”, an event hosted at the Meier Auditorium of the MACBA , Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona, Spain.
Organised by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the City of Barcelona, the conference will bring together European institutions, city representatives, and housing experts to discuss how innovation in construction can make housing more affordable, sustainable, and accessible across Europe.
The event will open with welcoming remarks and the signature of a new Framework Agreement, followed by a video message from Nadia Calviño, President of the EIB, and an address by Jaume Collboni Cuadrado, Mayor of Barcelona.
Throughout the day, participants will take part in a series of debates and roundtables, including:

High-level debate: What are the EU and national institutions doing to address the housing affordability crisis through innovation in construction?

Mayors Alliance Roundtable: How can cities promote and support innovative housing construction to lower costs and accelerate new affordable homes?

Sector panels: Exploring the roles of the financial, construction, and public sectors in scaling up innovative building solutions.
Speakers include Irene Tinagli (Chair of the European Parliament Special Committee on the Housing Crisis), Mar Jimenez (Commissioner for European Affairs, City of Barcelona), Miguel Pinto (Managing Director, Cluster de la Edificación), Gerard Guerra (Architect, IMHAB), and Paco Gomez Escofet (Hub Leader, ConTech International).
