During the INSME Annual Meeting, titled “Protecting and Valuing SMEs’ Intangible Assets,” SUPERSHINE contributed with an intervention highlighting the role of intellectual property (IP) in empowering SMEs to participate in Public–Private Partnerships for sustainable housing renovation and green innovation.
Dr Paola Zerilli during the first panel Panel chaired by Giovanni Zazzerini, contributed to the session “Driving SME Competitiveness through Intellectual Property,” where she highlighted the crucial role of intellectual property (IP) protection in enhancing the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within Public–Private Partnership (PPP) frameworks.
Drawing on the SUPERSHINE experience, Dr Zerilli underlined how IP protection can empower SMEs to become key providers of green innovation in sustainable building renovation projects. She explained that securing intangible assets not only safeguards innovation but also enables SMEs to attract investment, expand their market reach, and strengthen their competitiveness in the transition towards a greener economy.
Her presentation focused on two key themes:
-
How SMEs can leverage IP to strengthen market position and competitiveness, and
-
IP as a lever for expansion, financing, and branding.
Through her contribution, SUPERSHINE reaffirmed its commitment to promoting innovation, sustainability, and inclusiveness in the social housing renovation ecosystem, emphasising the importance of supporting SMEs as active partners in tackling energy poverty through PPP models.
